Monday Morning Thoughts

Such a beautiful morning outside. 5.30am it was cool, and there was a gentle breeze blowing. Absolutely lovely start to the first day of a new workweek. Gives a good feeling for my expectations of the day. I'm hoping to be productive!

Yesterday, I started packing up my Mrs Albee statuettes and boxing them, then popping the boxes into a big Rubbermaid container for some extra protection. Part of my decluttering for now, and packing to move, later. Yes, it may seem like I'm jumping the gun, since we have no new home to go to yet, but the decision has been made to move and thus, it will happen. I love people, just not living so close to me. 

We moved here 14 years ago because it was semi in the boonies, and that was what we wanted, that peace and quiet, the sights of nature, that come with rural living. The sale of the corner property, where the old neighbours had sheep, dogs and geese, has given way to 6 new homes. The noise from the construction has scared away all but 3 young deer from the herd that used to saunter into our back yard as they felt like it, the earth movers have shook my home so many days as they dug into the ground for foundations, it's not peaceful here any more. I don't have the contentment that I used to.

So, hubby and I are boonie hunting again, and since one of my favourite places to go is the river park at Ware Shoals, that's where we are starting to look. I love the little town, the people we've met down there have all been so friendly, and seems like it has a very Southern, almost Mayberry, mentality to it. In my "golden years" that suits me to a tee.

While we were out and about yesterday, I passed a few new subdivisions, and have decided that I need to bag up some brochures and samples, and take my trusty walker with me (so that I can sit, as necessary)to pop them on doors in a couple of them. Maybe I can meet some people that way and make new friends, as well as grow my AVON business. It will have to be on a cooler day though as Ive never done well in the heat, and now I'm older, I have even less tolerance. My "bag of tricks" now contains my inhaler, my emergency blood pressure meds, my emergency anxiety pill, I think I rattle when I walk now, LOL.

I also passed a couple of places that I want to contact, to see if they will allow me to put brochures in their locations, or maybe even join me and make extra money for themselves, since they are already working a business there.

I have to think smarter since I am finding it harder to maintain my business as I used to, and I am 6 months into the year and not even half way to President's Club qualifications this year. For me, failure is NOT an option, because I use my successes to inspire others ... since if I can achieve it, with all my health issues and lack of mobility, then healthy, able-bodied folks can too! Just have to be determined, and go for it!

Hard for me to think that it will be 11 years, this October, since I joined AVON. Almost 11 years since I met my upline, my friend and mentor, Glori Gossett, and began my AVON journey. I have met so many wonderful people in the AVON family, achieved successes I would never have imagined, and had so much fun along the way.

It's a good Monday morning! Now work beckons ... so I must "away", as they say, and get on.

Oh there are just so many great things in the Campaign 14 brochures, so I decided to give you 5 of my picks for Monday, just to  get the week started off right!

Good morning!

Good morning all!  Beautiful start to the day here, bright and sunny, although that may change this afternoon as they are promising storms.

So, I am busy trying to work my business. I labelled #AVONbrochures last night and hubby will restock my magazine rack in my local Chinese, when he gets off work this evening. Also gives me an excuse to have Sha Cha Beef for dinner!

I need to do some local researching of places that do newsletters, to see what they would charge me for some advertising. It's hard to work a business when you can't get out and about chatting to people as much as you'd like. I always used to talk, talk, talk. Hubby said I never met anyone who was a stranger I made friends in grocery lines, rest rooms, restaurants. Being basically housebound now, most of the week, has limited that avenue for getting to know people and widening my networking.

What Do You Know About Hair?

Ask any woman (or man, for that matter) how they care for their hair and some will name some outrageously priced brand, some will mutter that it was the dollar store and others will give you something inbetween. Does it really matter? Is there any difference? You may well look a each person and think that nobody's hair looks any better or worse than anyone else's so what's the truth here?

First of all, we have to understand what hair is and how it grows. I like this little video, it's simple and easy to follow, and explains that. It was made for those who color hair, as part of their training but don't worry about that, it's 2 minutes of easy watching, I promise.

It is often said that hair is a woman’s crowning glory! Long, lustrous and silky hair has been praised by innumerable poets.

I feel that my hair is my ultimate accessory. I can go from an office to a party mode just with a change in hairstyle. Hair enhances our beauty and speaks a lot about our personality. Do you need a better reason to take good care of your hair? If we know about the different hair types and what our hair type is, it’ll be much easier for us to do so.

Different Hair Types

A. Oily Hair:

It is very common for those with oily skin to have oily hair. Skin type does not vary between the visible surface and your scalp, hence you have oily hair. Oily skin means oily scalp and if your scalp is oily, your hair will automatically become oily.

This is primarily due to excess secretion of oil.

How to Recognize this Hair Type?

• The hair looks dull and lifeless most of the times.
• However much you shampoo, your hair will look greasy and limp in just a day or two.
• Excess oil secretion leads to dandruff which results in a lot of hair fall.

Care:

• Shampoo frequently
• Rinse with diluted acidic concoctions of lemon , vinegar , cider and even beer
• Avoid touching your hair. Oils can be transferred from your skin to the hair.
• Avoid oil massages as this will stimulate more oil secretion
• Opt for cool / room temperature water for hair wash. Hot water stimulates more oil production
• Avoid conditioner on roots of the hair .Opt for herbal remedies

B. Dry Hair:

Inactive oil glands lead to for dry hair. Well , not exactly inactive glands but more like ineffective glands.

If you have dry skin, then it is most likely that you will have dry hair. This is a result of the insufficient production of sebum by the glands on your scalp.

How to Recognize this Hair Type?

• Dry and frizzy hair due to overexposure to the sun, using harsh shampoos and chemical treatment
• Split ends
• Excessive hair breakage and loss

Care:

• Hot oil massage
• Deep conditioning or even leave in treatments like L’oreal total repair
• Refrain from using flat irons etc.
• Avoid daily shampoo as it will dry the hair further
• Opt for home remedies like mashed avacado hair mask.Leave in and rinse off after 30 minutes

  C. Normal Hair:

  You are lucky if you have this hair type!

  Proper pH balance, shiny and healthy hair come in conjunction with this type. Though we must tell you that the name is a huge misnomer. This is the most uncommon hair type to find. Take the regular precautions to clean, moisturise and protect it from sun damage and you will never face too many troubles with this hair type.

  How to Recognize this Hair Type:

  • Healthy hair with minimal hair loss
  • Minimal dandruff and other issues

  Care:

  • Eat balanced diet to maintain this hair.
  • Opt for shampoos that are sulfate free
  • Condition frequently
